IT'S NACAC SEASON!

One week from tomorrow, Mark and I will be hittin' the road and heading to the 38th annual NACAC conference. Instead of an opening speaker this year, the general session features a panel of Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute (CCAI) youth interns who aged out of or were adopted from foster care. The young adults will share their personal experiences with foster care and the importance of permanency for children and youth of all ages. Attending NACAC is always an inspiring experience and I encourage families and workers to attend, if at all possible.

Have you been to a NACAC conference before?

That's what eighteen-year-old Michael Jacobson wants the world to know - nothing's ever permanent in foster care. In an interview with Diane Lore of the Staten Island South Shore newspaper, Michael talks about his experiences in foster care and his latest autobiographical radio documentary that earned him the Adobe Youth Voices Aspire Award.
